New Roads

It’s been feeling a lot like summer.  Yes, the temps have been up, and the sun has been shining, but what I had in mind is that “Orange Barrel Season” is upon us!  No doubt this is thanks in part to the gov’t stimulus package, but it feels like the flood gates of R.C.A. signs have been opened.  Everywhere I turn the bright orange “Road Construction Ahead” signs greet me.  On my last ride I found myself turning, and turning, and turning again just to stay away from freshly grated pavement, stripped of its surface and lines.  It always reminds me of the cheese grater we have, where that one side is all prickly and rough- I have no idea what that side is for!  In order to avoid the vibration I found new roads- turns that I had never even noticed before.

This is a good thing, I think.  Here as spring really starts to turn to summer and roads really start turning into roadblocks- it reminds us of all the opportunities that lay before us.  I guess I’m wondering what new roads I have to explore, and what new roads I can pave.  What new opportunities will you take?  What new things will you explore?  Now’s the time, to put our worries about those barrels behind us, and weave our way down the path, knowing that there are new windows and doors open to us, and new turns that our lives might take!

“Behold, I will do something new, Now it will spring forth; Will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, Rivers in the desert.- Isaiah 43:19
